If you check InfoGeneral.txt

Under Linux 2.6.n kernels, the chipset is NOT SUPPORTED . Read
Modem/DOCs/InfoGeneral.txt about alternatives.

There are some that may work with native serial driver(True Hardware
Modems), there are also some USB modems, depends on what you can find
and which one meets your price range?
