Re: how to install this modem driver?

Mohammad,

If you get that error message, try the following sequence

$ sudo modprobe ungrab-winmodem
$ sudo modprobe slamr
$ sudo mkdir -p /dev
$ sudo mknod -m 600 /dev/slamr0 c 242 0

Then do
$ sudo slmodemd -c USA /dev/slamr0

If this fails, please post again. For automation, [to avoid typing
this everytime you want to connect, there is a sl-modem-daemon native
to ubuntu/debian distros]. Sorry I don't know how it works in
Ubuntu/Debian, otherwise I would explain a bit more.

https://help.ubuntu.com/community/DialupModemHowto/Smartlink

It is a bit outdated, but you need to search for sl-modem-daemon and install it.

Regards,

Antonio
