I answer to save you time waiting for Marv and Antonio whou usually do this.
Once you jave reached this point:
tra@geb:~$ lsmod | grep agr
agrserial 12032 2
agrmodem 1250948 1
snd_hda_codec 75708 4
agrmodem,snd_hda_codec_si3054,snd_hda_codec_realtek,snd_hda_intel
snd 59204 18 agrmodem,snd_ etc...
You should be ready to try a connection.
Just do:
sudo wvdialconf /etc/wvdial.conf
This should write a file /etc/wvdial.conf which needs to be edited
and then wvdial should be able to connect.
I do not remember all the problems you had in your efforts, but if
wvdialconf succeeds in ending having written the file /etc/wvdial.conf,
send us the file and we will help you tuning it for your connection - if
you do not know how to do it yourself of course.
