It may be a bit over your head, but you might have to go into the BIOS of your computer and change a setting from: Plug&Play OS YES to NO Either that or configure your on-chip devices and physically assign an interrupt to the on-board modem. Despite all of the claims, Linux isn't Plug & Play.
