Smartlink (ATIIXP) without Alsa

I recently change my sound system to OSS, to do that it blacklist the
snd-atiixp-modem module so now I can't use the drivers. I download and
compile succeffully the slmodem and ungrab-winmodem packages, the compiled
modules loaded into the kernel but the slmodemd die with:

error: mdm setup: cannot stat `/dev/slamr0': No such file or directory
error: cannot setup device `/dev/slamr0'

according to scanmodem I use the alsa low level driver so I think I can't have
a modem driver AND OSS at the same time. Is it neccesary to mix sound and
modem drivers? I am using the slmodemd that ships ubuntu in
sl-modem-daemon_2.9.10+2.9.9d+e-pre2-5ubuntu4_i386.deb, I use ubuntu hardy
(8.04)

any help appreciated!!
