May I pinpoint you you did NOT download the 2009_07_04 of the intel-536EP-536EP from http://x9000.fr:8088/Intel/ After tar -jxvf, the created directory is named: intel-536-537/
Dear Mr. President of Logikal Solutions, Can you download the latest intel-536EP-536EP driver version (2009_07_04 version) from http://x9000.fr:8088/Intel/ ? It has been tested with Linux kernels up to 2.6.30. Although you are running a Linux kernel 2.6.31, it may be worth to give it a try. Grab as well http://x9000.fr:8088/Intel/efax.zip . $ unzip -aa efax.zip $ cd efax $ make -f Makefile.orig Providing the Intel 536EP driver compiles and installs fine onto your computer, strictly follow the troubleshooting guide at http://x9000.fr:8088/Intel/Intel-Readme.html

I'm curious to see if this worked out, as once 2.6.31.x goes stable (it's at rc6 of prepatch currently), I'll be dealing with the same thing.
