Emma, It would be best advise to ask you to download a much newer scanModem from link below. The one that you used is a bit outdated. Running a newer one, will give you much better advice. http://linmodems.technion.ac.il/packages/scanModem.gz $ gunzip scanModem.gz $ chmod +x scanModem $ sudo ./scanModem please send newer ModemData.txt generated by the above scanModem. By the gcc version that is output by scanModem you would need SLMODEMD.gcc4.1.tar.gz Download the following file http://linmodems.technion.ac.il/packages/smartlink/SLMODEMD.gcc4.1.tar.gz copy it over to your home partition $ tar -zxvf SLMODEMD.gcc4.1.tar.gz These are similar directions that scanModem would provide. Download from http://linmodems.technion.ac.il/packages/smartlink/ the package SLMODEMD.gcc4.1.tar.gz having a compiled slmodemd. Unpack under Linux with: $ tar zxf SLMODEMD.gcc4.1.tar.gz and read instructions therein. But briefly, the modem is setup with command: $ sudo slmodemd -c VENEZUELA --alsa modem:1 or (hw:0,6)??? reporting dynamic creation of ports: /dev/ttySL0 --> /dev/pts/N , with N some number Read DOCs/Smartlink.txt and Modem/DOCs/YourSystem.txt for followup guidance. This is why running a newer scanModem would help $ sudo slmodemd -c VENEZUELA --alsa modem:1 or (hw:0,6)??? Which output do you send --alsa modem:1 or hw:0,6 or similar?
