Rocky, Warnings in a compile are not necessarily lethal. They are distinct from "errors" which are lethal in that they abort a compilation. However the failure of wvdialconf test to detect the 11c1:0620 modem is problematic. It suggests that alternative drivers should be tested. Hugo Canelli has reported that the drivers compiled from the more recent dkms-agrsm resource did support his modem, same type as your: 11c1:0620 Communication controller: Agere Systems First uninstall the current driver pair $ sudo make uninstall. Then follow the instructions below: MarvS -------------- For the 11c11040 modem chips on High Definition Audio cards and 11c1:0620 chip modems, the driver resource is called dkms-agrsm. First install your Distro's dkms package The dkms toolset automates compiling, including compiling of needed update drivers when an update kernel is installed. Test if already installed with: dkms --help If not installed or on your installation media, check your distribution's repository. For Ubuntu, the repository is at http://packages.ubuntu.com. Comments are more general compiling support are below. At http://linmodems.technion.ac.il/packages/ltmodem/11c11040/ , get packages dkms-agrsm_2.1.80-7_i386.deb agrsm_howto.txt, agrsm-tools-version.deb The latter creates symbolic links and runs a first functional test. Upon download and copying into your Linux partition, installation can be done with: $SUDO dpkg -i agrsm*.deb or one of the more sophisticated installation tools.
