Detach the external hardware to free up resources,  before booting into Linux.
After bootup:
$ sudo ifconfig eth0 down
Try loading the modem driver:
$ sudo modprobe snd-atriixp-modem

Rerun:
$ ./scanModem
to assess if there is relief of:
 serial 0000:00:14.6: PCI INT B disabled
