Ivo,

Under CPU=x86_64,  Linux version 2.6.27-7-generic
 there is no support for  modem chip on the audio card

But the  modem will be supported if you should chose to completely
reinstall, but with the Intel i386  architechture variant of the
Linux.

Then you could install the dkms package and
follow the example of
