hsf freezes Linux and extra RAM ...

[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index]

Gentleman,

    Strange issues with extra memory (> 1Gb) and Via hw...follows:

    1) Kernel 2.6.22-5 with Fedora patches, VIA High Definition Audio
Controller (rev 10)  - 1106:3288 (rev 10), hsfmodem.

    2) hsfmodem-7.80.02.02full-1 and alsa-driver-linuxant-1.0.19.1-1
installed and working perfectly....so far...

    3) Added an extra Gb RAM (now 2 Gb), and nothing else (no new
kernel or extra hardwares, etc...);

    4) Linux freezes at boot (Kernel Oops...);

    5) Hsf and alsa-linuxant removed....system boots normally

    6) Reinstalling  alsa-driver-linuxant-1.0.19.1-1...installation
ok and sound working

    7) Reinstalling hsfmodem-7.80, results at loading drivers:

        8) Tries: removing some codecs, grub boot parameteres tried:
apic off, irqpoll, pci off, and others...nothing so far, same EIP
address .

        9) Removing extra Gb Ram...working again....Update
kernel...not possible at this moment...several apps linked to it..DBs,
in home develpd apps, etc....

      10) Attached some extra info.

Any help will be very welcomed, svp. Merci beacoup.
