I downloaded the latest release of the scanModem utility today, January 29, 2009, and attempted to run it. I got the message "continuing as this update is only 1 weeks old ..." then it hung. The entire system didn't hang, only the current process. I let it run a long time (over an hour), but it never did finish. I am running on an IBM ThinkPad 390E. The OS is Debian GNU/Linux 4.0 (codename Etch) with Debian kernel version 2.6.18-6-686.
