Antonio,

Make a note that if a System has both a
10b9:5451 Audo (plus potential modem), and also
10b9:5457 Modem
the 10b9:5451 most likely is not hosting a modem chip
Presently I'll work this instruction into scanModem

Dawitt,

You need the ungrab-winmodem + slamr driver pair for service under
your Ubuntu kernel 2.6.24-22-generic. There is a stock of driver
installers at http://linmodems.technion.ac.il/packages/smartlink/Ubuntu/
but one has not been assembled for your particular 2.6.24-22-generic yet.
But download the  slamr-2.6.24-19-generic.tar.gz

Next download from
http://packages.ubuntu.com/hardy-updates/linux-image-2.6.24-19-generic
the update kernel 2.6.24-19-generic . Install under Linux with:
$ sudo dpkg    -i  linux*.deb

Reboot under the new 2.6.24-19-generic kernel
$ tar zxf slamr*.tar.gz
$ cd  slamr-2.6.24-19-generic
$ ls
Run the
$ sudo ./setup

Try to find out what the modem country code is for ETHIOPIA.
It may be needed for a successful dialout.
