I have followed these installation steps. After that, both modules
load fine, and I can access my modem with minicom. I have configured
pppd, and it even works, even with callback! :) But! I try to ping the
other side of PPP link, and it starts normally, with delay around
150ms. But then I see delays growing for some time, then they return
back to normal just for a couple of seconds, then they grow again (see
attached file). It is not possible to transfer anything from such a
connection.. :(

I am sure this is not a line conditions, as in Windows dialup works
good. Tried to reconnect several times, same result. I don't know if
it matters, but one time I had "no buffer space available" error
during pings, and also laptop hangs completely if I attempt AT&F
command which should load default settings in modem.
