which kernel are you running now?

This makes a difference because slusb won't run under kernels >=
2.6.25.  It would be nice if you put in
$ uname -r
and
$ subo lsusb
or
$ su -
password:
# lsusb

AMD 64 slusb runs, but is different did you read the documentation
