Sebastian, which kernel are you running now? This makes a difference because slusb won't run under kernels >= 2.6.25. It would be nice if you put in $ uname -r and $ subo lsusb or $ su - password: # lsusb AMD 64 slusb runs, but is different did you read the documentation http://linmodems.technion.ac.il/packages/smartlink/slusb64bit.txt Regards, Antonio On Thu, Dec 18, 2008 at 11:02 AM, Sebastian Felber <sf-freital@xxxxxx> wrote: > Hiya, > > i switched from ubuntu intrepid i386 to amd64. I have an Smartlink 56K USB Softmodem. While i used i386 the modem worked well, but in amd64 it don't connect. The driver slmodem-2.9.11-20080818 compiles well, after installing the ia32 libraries and development packages provided by ubuntu. > > But the modem won't connect. > > dmesg outputs > [ 4152.212067] ioctl32(slmodemd:9044): Unknown cmd fd(3) cmd(00000008){t:00;sz:0} arg(00000000) on /dev/slusb0 > > Then i googled for this error message, but didn't found some useful stuff. > Then i played around with initstrings, and it worked, the modem connected like in i386. jibeeeeee. Thought i found the right initstring, but after an reboot, the same problem, it won't connect. > Again, played around with initstrings, nothing works, but suddenly, it connect's again, jibeeeee.
