Hi,

it is important to note that the solution (workaround) I gave to Alex is specific for his setup, he probably had a HDA sound device with a non-HDA modem which is not a common setup. With this specific setup, the command can be used if you experience crashes or audio problem, it might cure them without a negative impact on the HSF driver.

Users with a HDA sound and HDA Conexant modem setup, which is common in newer laptops, that have problems (a crash, sound related issues, etc...) should try with the latest stable version of alsa-driver-linuxant available at:

http://www.linuxant.com/alsa-driver/

At the moment, the latest experimental DEB build is available at:

http://www.linuxant.com/alsa-driver/alsa-driver-linuxant_1.0.19git20081204_all.deb

If problems persist even with the latest version, please send to support@xxxxxxxxxxxx a "dumpdiag" generated with the 'sudo hsfconfig --dumpdiag' command under Ubuntu ('hsfconfig --dumpdiag' in a root shell for other distributions).

we have several reports of a crash while the system is booting using alsa-driver-linuxant and the HSF driver. I have very little information at the moment but it seems to be related to the HDA bus driver provided in alsa-driver-linuxant doesn't fully support the HDA hardware of the machine.

You could try with a newer but experimental build of alsa-driver-linuxant available at:

http://www.linuxant.com/alsa-driver/alsa-driver-linuxant_1.0.19git20081204_all.deb

to see if there is a difference. If it doesn't solve the problem, a dump generated with the 'sudo hsfconfig --dumpdiag' command could be useful to help us track down the problem.

if you resolve my problem i buy the license, i'm using modem as fax and
i want to leave mircosoft system for all work with pc!!!

 Compiling hsfmodem drivers does require linux-libc-dev and libc6-dev
packages, for kernels 2.6.24 and later versions.
 In not included on your install CD, search for them at

 or comparable Repository for other Linux distros.
When compiling ALSA drivers, the utility "patch" will also be needed.




If a driver compilation fails, with message including some lack of some
FileName.h (stdio.h for example), then
Some additional kernel-header files need installation to /usr/include.
The minimal additional packages are libc6-dev
and any of its dependents, under Ubuntu linux-libc-dev

If an alternate ethernet connection is available,
$  apt-get update
$  apt-get -s install linux-kernel-devel
will install needed packages.
For Debian/Ubuntu related distributions, run the following command to
