Hey, Sometimes these things happen - some distros just give generic kernel sources which aren't the exact version the distro comes with, causing such an error. You should be able to build the latest alsa-driver package and install it without a problem. The instructions will only differ in that you need to edit the hda_codec.c in the source package, not in /usr/src/linux. Best, Bjorn.
