Lazaro,
Likely it will be easiest if fromhttp://linmodems.technion.ac.il/packages/smartlink/Ubuntu/ youdownload the slamr-2.6.24-19-generic.tar.gzUnpack with:$ tar zxf slamr-2.6.24-19-generic.tar.gzMove in:$ cd slamr-2.6.24-19-genericBrowse the files. Then run:$ sudo ./setup
and follow through with the instructions.
Run:$ slmodemd --versionwhich should report 2.9.11$ slmodemd --helpfor general info:$ slmodemd --countrylistfor modem country settings. This is none for CUBA
Within /etc/default/sl-modem-daemon , there is a default country:SLMODEMD_COUNTRY=USAcorresponding to hexadecimal b5 for COUNTRY modem settingThis may/maynot work in CUBA. If not adequate you will have to findthe hexadecimal modem code for Cuba. Then choose a COUNTRY_NAME (allcaps) with the same hexadecimal modem code as Cuba. Then enter thatname asSLMODEMD_COUNTRY=COUNTRY_NAME with the edit made by$ sudo gedit /etc/default/sl-modem-daemon
The scripts installed by the *.deb file activate the modem upon bootup. If the personal information in /etc/wvdial.conf is correct, youshould be able to dialout with:$ sudo wvdial
Write to the List if you need further help, as I am not online regularly.
