Hi Marv & antonio,
can we start at the beginning please.
the file was originally on my usb. and what I did (which in hind sight may have been the wrong thing to do) was simply drag-and-dropped it from the usb folder (extra) to the desktop. so maybe the error occurred there. thanks, I imagine you must be very busy so Ican't emphasize how much I value your continual assistance on this matter.
