Basem Your modem chipset, Silicon Instruments 1543:3052, is potentially supported. >From http://linmodems.technion.ac.il/packages/smartlink/ download both: ungrab-winmodem-20080126.tar.gz and slmodem-2.9.11-20080817.tar.gz In your home folder under Llnux unpack them with: $ tar zxf un*.tar.gz $ tar zxf sl*.tar.gz Move in with $ cd ungrab-winmodem-20080126 Browse a bit. Clean up with $ make clean compile drivers with $ make To do the installs: $ su root # make install Same for the slmodem-2.9.11-20080817.tar.gz package Afterward: # modprobe ungrab-winmodem # modprobe slamr and try to activate the modem with # slmodemd -c USA /dev/slamr0 (USA is wrong, but this is just for testing.) Hopefully there will be reported port creation: /dev/ttySL0 --> /dev/pts/N Report back at this time.
