Onti,

CPU=ppc,  Linux version 2.6.17-10-powerpc

A candidate modem is not evident among the PCI devices:
------------------------------------------------
0000:00:10.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation Unknown
device 0184 (rev a2)
0001:10:13.0 Network controller: RaLink Unknown device 0302
0001:10:17.0 Class ff00: Apple Computer Inc. KeyLargo Mac I/O (rev 03)
0002:20:0d.0 Class ff00: Apple Computer Inc. UniNorth 2 ATA/100
0002:20:0e.0 FireWire (IEEE 1394): Apple Computer Inc. UniNorth 2
FireWire (rev 01)
0002:20:0f.0 Class ffff: Illegal Vendor ID Unknown device ffff (rev ff)
========

Interesting as we get few queries on Apple hardware.

If your modem is external, it might be detected by as Root querying with:
# wvdialconf  /etc/wvdial.conf

If internal the modem bridge on the motherboard is not a PCI type.
But Apple usually uses Conexant modem hardware.

Check at www.linuxant.com which provides Linux drivers for Conexant modems.
