How do I "compile the driver"? When I copy this in the terminal, I
get:

heidiann@heidiann-laptop:~
$ /lib/modules/2.6.24-19-generic/kernel/drivers/usb/serial/airprime.ko
bash: /lib/modules/2.6.24-19-generic/kernel/drivers/usb/serial/airprime.ko: Permission denied

The compiled driver that must be replaced is at:
/lib/modules/2.6.24-19-generic/kernel/drivers/usb/serial/airprime.ko
