Patrick,

Predictive diagnostics for card in bus 00:1f.6:
       Modem chipset  detected on
NAME="Modem: Intel Corp. 82801AA AC'97 Modem "
CLASS=0703
PCIDEV=8086:2416
SUBSYS=152d:8801
IRQ=10
SOFT=8086:2416.MC97
CodecDiagnosed=SIL26
CodecClass=SIL
IDENT=mc97
Driver=snd-intel8x0m

are adequate, though I will have to do a bugfix as

scanModem should have output the following guidance also:
---------------
 Download from http://linmodems.technion.ac.il/packages/smartlink/
 the package SLMODEMD having a compiled slmodemd. Unpack under Linux with:
 	$ tar zxf SLMODEMD.3.tar.gz
 and read instructions therein. But briefly, the modem is setup with command:
 	# slmodemd -c YOUR_COUNTRY --alsa $OPTS$SLMODEMD_DEVICE
 reporting dynamic creation of ports:
	/dev/ttySL0 --> /dev/pts/N   , with N some number
 Read DOCs/Smartlink.txt and DOCs/YourSystem.txt for follow through guidance.

 However Fedora Core release 3 (Heidelberg) Kernel Linux version
2.6.9-1.667 is old now
and you should consider upgrading to a some current Linux release soon,
The modem guidance will remain the same, except you should use the
SLMODEMD.gccN.tar.gz, with N most closely matching the output of
$  gcc --version
