Hi all,
First off, I must say that I'm a total newbie to mailing lists -and
newsgroups, I don't know if those two are related- and don't clearly
understand how I'll read answers (am gonna search the web tomorrow, at
the job where I have a working Ethernet connection).
Second, I attached my ModemData.txt file (produced by the scanModem
script). My modem is a Motorola Si3054, I live in Canada and my system
is Kubuntu 8.04 atm (but it would be nice if the solution to my problem
could apply to other systems as I'll be switching to SlackWare 11.0 if I
can get my modem to work).
The error I get is "NO DIAL TONE" from "wvdial" (ran as root).
/etc/wvdial.conf is as follow:

slmodemd output is as follow:

Use `/dev/ttySL0" as modem device, Ctrl+C for termination
At first, I tried "sudo slmodemd -c 20 --alsa hw:0,6", but it would say
"bad country name `20', using default by code!"
Although, I noticed that with 20, wvdial would get NO DIAL TONE error
while with CANADA it would stop at NO CARRIER.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
