Hi all
I am running ubuntu 7.10 and I believe I have an intel ich7 modem.
I am attaching ModemData.txt along this.I only downloaded
sl-modem-daemon and set this in /etc/default/sl-modem-daemon
SLMODEMD_DEVICE="hw:0"
SLMODEMD_COUNTRY=SAUDIARABIA
The modem seems to be working fine (can query the modem using kppp)
until I try to dial out. KPPP,efax and even wvdial repeatedly gives
me "No Carrier" problem. One important thing is that I need to dial
*9 to access outside line.
Here is my wvdial.conf

The modem symbolic link is /dev/modem -> ttySL0
The slmodemd set symbolic link is /dev/ttySL0 -> /dev/pts/0
There are no blacklisted modem drivers in /etc/modprobe* files
PCI slot 00:1b.0 has a High Definition Audio Card
The Advanced Linux Sound Architecture (ALSA) packages providing audio support,
also includes drivers for some modems. The ALSA diagnostics are written during
bootup to /proc/asound/ folders.
The /proc/asound/ audio+modem diagostics are being copied.
Finished copy to Modem/ALSAroot.tgz
The /proc/asound/pcm file reports:
