Just do the uninstall for these drivers, and also if you installed sl-modem-daemon $ apt-get remove sl-modem-daemon Then look at http://www.linuxant.com/drivers/hsf/full/downloads-ubuntu-x86.php Your kernel 2.6.20-15-generic does not have a matching package. So you need to get the generic package from http://www.linuxant.com/drivers/hsf/full/downloads.php near the botttom of the page, see: DPKG x86 hsfmodem_7.68.00.04full_i386.deb.zip Under Linux unpack with: $ unzip hsfmodem*.zip Then install with: $ sudo dpkg -i hsfmodem*.deb Subsequently, the modem should be found with $ sudo wvdialconf /etc/wvdial.conf Edit in your personal information with: $ sudo gedit /etc/wvdial.conf and try dialing out with: $ sudo wvdial. See Testing.txt for details. If the hsfmodem package doesn't serve it should at least return a diagnostic report.
