ungrab-winmodem-20070505.tar.gz and slmodem-2.9.11-20070813.tar.gz

A necessary device node is not made until automation is done. Do:
$ su - root
# mknod -m 600 /dev/slamr0 c 242 0
# modprobe ungrab-winmodem
# modprobe slamr
What is your COUNTRY (-c below)
Then ports should be created by:
# slmodemd -c USA /dev/slamr0
Then open a 2nd console and the modem should be found by
$ su - root
# wvdialconf /etc/wvdial.conf
Report back where your problem is
