EXPLANATION OF LIST SIGNUP PROBLEM:
I apologize about the signup on linmodems. I
originally signed up from my work email
bterrell@xxxxxxxxx on October 1 and spent a month
reading. My first email to the list was ll/2, with the
accidental Subject heading Greeting! I did not
understand that Subject: should have "name YourCounty
kernel". My work email is on Groupwise, and I could
not get the HTML turned off, so I added my Yahoo
account and turned off all HTML. Part of the problem
was the incorrect Subject line, so your system does
not sort to the proper experts. Subject line should
now be corrected.
RE: Please send directly to the List, so others with
expertise can contribute.
If I am STILL NOT sending directly to the list, please
let me know.
MY ACTIONS AND DEBUG:
I guessed and blacklisted ipv6, but eth0 still
comes uP. I am running kubuntu, so use KPPP instead of
Gnome-ppp. I can use either one, and can do so on a
system with any distro of Ubuntu you would like. I
have one sitting here with Edubuntu and Gnome-ppp I
can use if you request. Both KPPP and wvdial produce
the same disconnect (and Gnome-ppp and wvdial on
Edubuntu), and both still leave the phone line and
carrier active. KPPP does not give me a disconnect
message, wvdial does. wvdial leaves the phone line and
carrier active after presenting the DISCONNECT
message.
