Daniel Read the Smartlink.txt for details. But RE: > $ sudo slmodemd --alsa -s -c URUGUAY hw:0 hw:0 is the audio card, not the modem. And for your Motorola modem, the setup command would be: $ sudo slmodemd -c URUGUAY /dev/slamr0 But with the sl-modem-daemon scripts now installed the slmodemd stepup should be automated at bootup, and appears to be working because there is: /dev/modem -> ttySL0 Check further to see if there is a created device $ ls -l /dev/slamr0 and $ ls -l /dev/ttySLO should show /dev/ttySL0 --> /dev/pts/N , N some number if the scripts are working. With $ sudo gedit /etc/default/sl-modem-daemon Change SLMODEMD_DEVICE=auto SLMODEMD_COUNTRY=USA to SLMODEMD_DEVICE=slamr0 SLMODEMD_COUNTRY=URUGUAY Save, and then have it read with: $ sudo /etc/init.d/sl-modem-daemon restart which is automatic on bootup Afterward: $ sudo wvdialconf wvtest should detect the modem. If so with $ sudo gedit /etc/wvdial.conf edit to a format like: [Dialer Defaults] Modem = /dev/ttySL0 ISDN = off Phone = YourDialOutNumber Modem Type = Analog Modem Baud = 460800 Init1 = ATZ Init2 = ATQ0 V1 E1 S0=0 &C1 &D2 +FCLASS=0 Username = YourAccountName Password = YourPassWord Carrier Check = no Then you should be able to dialout with: $ sudo wvdial MarvS On 10/31/07, Daniel Stonek <daniel@xxxxxxxxxx> wrote: > > Hello, > I downloaded and installed > SLMODEMD-1.0.13 > from linmodems site to Feisty > To get modem daemon start I > $ sudo slmodemd --alsa -s -c URUGUAY hw:0 > and this is the output > > error: mixer setup: Off-hook switch not found for card hw:0 > SmartLink Soft Modem: version 2.9.9e-pre1 Mar 20 2007 14:45:09 > symbolic link `/dev/ttySL0' -> `/dev/pts/10' created. > modem `hw:0' created.
