Marvin and Hugo, I have changed the slot, and disabled the Modem and Audio controllers in the BIOS, the acpi=off was already in the kernel line of menu.lst. The result was the same... "Sorry, no modem was detected!" I now arrived to the conclusion that the solution is change de board for one compatible with the Ubuntu 7.04.
