Mic,
Usage of wvdial and chatscripts are mutually exclusive modes of getting on line.You cannot use both simultaeuously.The wvdial is "more advanced" as if bypasses the need for the originalchatscript route.
If you merely want to CHAT while already on line, simply use the CHATcapability that runs under FIrefox.
