Nitin,

Concerning your audio support, there is another possibility. The
VIA Technologies, Inc. VIA High Definition Audio Controller
is relatively new and may not yet be supported under ALSA version 1.0.13,
If this is the case, we can lead your through an update process,
which will require extensive package downloading.

So lets do some simpler testing first.
Send me the output of:
$ lspci -s  04:01.0  -nv
to display more details on the Audio card.

You might also start the lengthy downloads needed for setup for compiling.
Do:
$ sudo  apt-get update
to update your package lists, then
$ sudo apt-get install linux-kernel-devel
The latter will be a long download using the modem.
You might want to let it run when no one else will want the phone.
To show the packages that will be downloaded, first stimulate (-s)
$ $ sudo apt-get -s  install linux-kernel-devel

If you have access to a faster connection, you could alternatively
search out and download these packages individually through
http://packages.ubuntu.com

Also read:
$ apt-cache show apt-zip
about a helper script
