Failure in dialtone detection is a typical in Italy, due to low phone
line Voltages.
Try putting an X3 (dial anyway) in Init2  as follows:
init2 = ATQ0 V1 E1 S0=0 X3  &C1 &D2 +FCLASS=0

If necessary to maintain a CONNECT, there can be additionally added to Init2
 +MS=90
as the default +MS=92  is flaky at some providers or at worst,  + MS=32
Please read the documentation in the SLMODEMD folder.
and do copy to the List. I do not have a FAX experience.
