Jim,

There is a modem interrupt and sharing issue. relevant output here:

\begin{quote}
 Modem interrupt assignment and sharing:
 16:     810734   IO-APIC-fasteoi   SL2800, radeon@pci:0000:01:00.0

 --- Bootup diagnostics for card in PCI slot 00:08.0 ----
ACPI: PCI Interrupt 0000:00:08.0[A] -> GSI 16 (level, low) -> IRQ 16
ACPI: PCI interrupt for device 0000:00:08.0 disabled
ACPI: PCI Interrupt 0000:00:08.0[A] -> GSI 16 (level, low) -> IRQ 16

 The PCI slot 00:08.0 of the modem card may be disabled early in
 a bootup process, but then enabled later. If modem drivers load
 but the modem is not responsive, read Bootup.txt about possible fixes.
 Send dmesg.txt along with ModemData.txt to discuss@xxxxxxxxxxxxx
 if help is needed.
\end{quote}

There are several related threads about smartlink here.

SL2800 with 2.6.20-1.2498.fc6
http://linmodems.technion.ac.il/archive-seventh/msg01650.html

some success - but mostly failure - with Smartlink drivers
http://linmodems.technion.ac.il/archive-seventh/msg01758.html

Please send dmesg text to discuss@xxxxxxxxxxxxx to troubleshoot this issue.

Regards,

Antonio
