Shaddi,

There is no archival information on Subsystem 17aa:2010
But from the failure to obtain further diagnostic output,
Most likely it has a Conexant softmodem chip.

Please
$ cp -a  /proc/asound shaddi
$ tar cfz  shaddi.tgz   shaddi/
and send me the shaddi.tgz so I can analyze it.

Also  From  http://www.linuxant.com/drivers/hsf/full/downloads-ubuntu-x86.php
download hsfmodem_VersionSpec_k2.6.20_16_generic_ubuntu_i386.deb.zip

Under Linux unpack with:
$ unzip hsfmodem*.zip
Then install with:
$ sudo dpkg -i hsfmodem*.deb
The install will only succeed if is in fact a Conexant modem

Subsequently, the modem should be found with
$ sudo wvdialconf /etc/wvdial.conf
Edit in your personal information with:
$ sudo gedit /etc/wvdial.conf
and try dialing out with:
$ sudo wvdial.

Please do report back presently, to enrich out Archives

To Whom It May Concern:

First, sorry about the previous email's poor subject line! Second,
sorry for sending two emails!

I'm trying to set up the modem on my Thinkpad T60. I have no clue how
it is set up or anything. I ran scanModem and my output doesn't seem
too helpful (the full ModemData.txt file is at the bottom of this
message).

I would appreciate any help you could give.

Shaddi
