The SmartCP are indeed Conexant modems. Fromhttp://www.linuxant.com/drivers/hsf/full/downloads-mdk-x86.php download the	hsfmodem-7.60.00.09full_k2.6.17_13mdvlegacy-1mdv.i686.rpm.zipUnpack with$ unzip hsf*.zipand use whatever Mandiva tools to install.Afterward the modem should be found by dialout tools at  /dev/modem.Sometimes a reboot is necessary.
