Re: Jupp, Germany, openSUSE 10.2 - kernel 2.6.18.2-34-default

Jupp,

For
8086:266d    1179:0001    Modem: Intel Corporation
the 1179:0001 Subsystem typically has an AgereSystems (now LSI)
softmodem chip.

Typically this would be supported by your on board snd-hda-intel
audio+modem driver, with high level support from the slmodemd helper
in SLMODEMD.gcc4.1.tar.gz  at
http://phep2.technion.ac.il/linmodems/packages/smartlink/
with setup command:
# slmodemd -c GERMANY --alsa hw:0,N
N is usually 1 or 6
and would be advised by scanModem.

It is not apparent from the dmesg output why there occurred:
ACPI: PCI interrupt for device 0000:00:1e.3 disabled

Please do:
$ cp -a /proc/asound/ jupp
$ tar cfz jupp.tgz  jupp/
and send me the jupp.tgz

Also  the options in Bootup.txt,
each time again running scanModem to assess if the situation has changed.

USB modem not detected by lsusb

Modem or host audio card candidates have firmware information:

 PCI slot PCI ID SubsystemID Name
 ----------    ---------    ---------    --------------
 00:1e.3    8086:266d    1179:0001    Modem: Intel Corporation
82801FB/FBM/FR/FW/FRW

 Modem interrupt assignment and sharing:

 --- Bootup diagnositcs for card in PCI slot 00:1e.3 ----
ACPI: PCI Interrupt 0000:00:1e.3[B] -> GSI 20 (level, low) -> IRQ 209
ACPI: PCI interrupt for device 0000:00:1e.3 disabled

 The PCI slot 00:1e.3 of the modem card may be disabled early in
 a bootup process, but then enabled later. If modem drivers load
 but the modem is not responsive, read Bootup.txt about possible fixes.
 Send dmesg.txt along with ModemData.txt to discuss@xxxxxxxxxxxxx
 if help is needed.
