I think that your problem can be resolved. Marv has a special SLMODEMD for Ubuntu 7.04 at http://linmodems.technion.ac.il/packages/smartlink/Ubuntu/slamr-2.6.20-15-generic.tar.gz Download it and replace/remove the other one SLMODEMD-1.0.13. As for the wvdial.conf file, add the following lines and uncomment "#" them if needed Carrier Check = no #Stupid Mode = yes #AutoDNS = yes and should look like [olivares@localhost ~]$ cat /etc/wvdial.conf [Dialer Defaults] Modem = /dev/ttySM0 Baud = 460800 Init1 = ATZ #Init2 = ATQ0 V1 E1 S0=0 X3 &C1 &D2 +MS=90 Init2 = ATQ0 V1 E1 S0=0 &C1 &D2 +FCLASS=0 ISDN = 0 Modem Type = Analog Modem Carrier Check = no #Stupid Mode = yes #Auto DNS = yes ;Dial Command = ATDP Phone = 7072000 Username = username Password = your_password Hope this helps and gets you online.
