with a Agere/Lucent DSP modem. The core problem is that the compiling of the martian_dev was done using a set of linux headers with version designation 2.6.17-13mdvcustom, so that the driver was uselessly installed to
/lib/modules/2.6.17-13mdvcustom/extra/martian_dev.ko
