Marco, Thanks for points this potential source of alternate Conexant support for It will be included in a scanModem update soon. But note that the support is only confirmed for chipset 14f1:2f00 with service up to a 2.6.17 Ubuntu breezy kernel. It is doubtful that this code will also support the Conexant 0x14f12bfa chip increasing found on many High Definition Audio cards It would be useful to have further reports on other chipsets this code does or doesn't serve. Dear all, there exist an open source driver for Conexant softmodem, see http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=180632 https://help.ubuntu.com/community/DialupModemHowto/Conexant Of course this driver is for experts only at the moment; but it's worth to be cited, and someone could improve it in case that he is aware that this driver exist and the work has already began. This driver should be cited on the web pages about linmodems, and the scanModem should cite in a better way: although the driver is cited in the file Modem/Conexant.txt produced by scanModem, the file Modem/ModemData.txt says: " Formal support for Conexant chipset modems are available ONLY through http://www.linuxant.com/drivers. Read Conexant.txt for details. and Modem/YourSystem.txt for follow through guidance. Driver speed is limited to 14,400 until a key is purchased. There is NO freeware alternative." which is misleading. Best regards, Marco Costantini
