Hi, I just successfully installed/ran SLMODEMD on my Toshiba (intel-based) laptop, running SuSE 10.2. It seemed to do exactly what it was supposed to, and when I used KPPP to start dialing-out, the logs reported that the modem was functioning properly, etc - but it never once actually managed to finish connecting. Usually, it would get partway through an elongated "conversation" with the server, then claim that there was "no carrier," and promptly start redialing - even as the server continued to try to communicate with my desktop (at least, that's what it sounded like. The modem didn't seem to be able to communicate with my soundcard, so I listened in on an external telephone). Once in a while, the connection routine would get a bit further, but it would always stall before the authentication process. Though I have no idea what's wrong, I'm wondering if some of the modem command strings that SuSE automatically generated are causing a problem. I've attached a KPPP log showing what happens under the best of circumstances (when the routine gets the furthest along). But though the log seems to suggest that something has been sucessful, the connection is never made (and when I pick up the phone, I get a dialtone). Any help/suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for doing all this!
