Jacques, Thanks for your response! I downloaded and tried whith that binary package. dpkg didn't seem to has errors. But after installing it seems imposible to load the module. I'm attaching LTinstall.txt created after installing the binary package. I'm wondering if that driver is ok for my modem. As you can see the output of scanmodem says that my modem (is a variant of LT, by Askey Computer Co.). Do you know if the module is ok for that variaant of LT modem? (this modem came with a Compaq Presario box...) Class 11c1:0441 (rev Communication controller: Lucent Microelectronics 56k WinModem (rev 01) SubSystem 144f:110d Askey Computer Corp. Lucent Win Modem Sorry for this newbie questions... I will be pacient and I'll read more on linmodems to see if I can get this LT modem working. I'm sure there is a way to get it working because I use that modem with DSL Linux distro, which comes with the ltmodem modem built-in. That distro autodetects the modem. regars, Matías Original Message: ----------------- From: Jacques Goldberg Jacques.Goldberg@xxxxxxx Date: Sun, 18 Mar 2007 11:37:28 +0200 To: matiasar@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx, discuss@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: Re: compiling ltmodem with Debian 3.1 kernel 2.4.27-2-386 Please, which driver file are you trying to install? Are you aware of the existence of file ltmodem-2.4.27-1-386_8.31a8_i386.deb at URL http://www.sfu.ca/~cth/ltmodem/dists/debian/8.31a8/ ? Indeed you have subversion 2, not 1, of kernel 2.4.27, but in your place I would try the file above, if you didn't.
