Syed,

Thanks for pointing out the 2006_Jan_21 typo in scanModem
It should be 2007_Jan_21.

Jacques,
   please fix and repack.

Syed
New compiles and installs of ungrab-winmodem.ko and slamr,ko are
needed with each new kernel for your
Class 0703: 2000:2800 Modem: Smart Link Ltd.

Unfortunate slamr.ko compiles are broken under 2.6.18 kernels with the
slmodem-2.9.11-20061021 code package. We are awaiting a fix from
maintainer Sasha. So best stay with a 2.6.17 or earlier kernel,
pending that update.

SLMODEMD.gcc$.tar.gz provides a pre-compiled slmodemd, so the
Makefile is not needed. slmodemd is not a kernel_version dependent
module, but a smart helper which needn't be updated with each kernel.

Many softmodems use ALSA drivers included in current kernel releases,
and slmodemd is the only additional utility needed to complete modem
support.
Unfortunately your 2000:2800 Modem can only use the slamr.ko driver.

Hello

I've been using the modem with my current installation for a while now. There
has been a new release of the OS with GCC4. After install I cannot connect
with the same file.

To connect to the net, with the current install, I went to the website
http://linmodems.technion.ac.il/packages/smartlink/

From there I downloaded the file
slmodem-2.9.11-20061021

I am including the ModemData.txt file that was given out. Also, I just
downloaded scanModem.gz. But the file says that "scanModem update of:
2006_Jan_21", is that a typo or something? Because I just downloaded it!

This is a BestData modem with an actual SmartLink SL2800 chip. I can see the
chip and read the screen printing on it.

Thankyou.
