Hi Jacques,

thanks for information. I already did and it works. I just find a price of approx. USD 20 for a dial-up modem driver a bit expensive, especially nowadays when we have DSL/Wifi and 3G connections. In fact, before running the analysis script, I was just curious how can I get my modem working.
Though I have a question. What exactly was meant by this part?

--->start
The VendorID 0x14f12bfa softmodem chip is in principle supported by the snd-hda-intel driver included within the ALSA audio+modem driver set. However recognition of 0x14f12bfa first begins with ALSA version 1.0.13. There are instructions for upgrading snd-hda-intel and its dependent driver set at http://linmodems.technion.ac.il/archive-fourth/msg0????.html The ? in the device designation in hw:0,? will be manifest after the driver update.
Typically ? is in the range of 0-6
-->end

Is there at least a theoretical chance, that I can have it working without linuxant driver at full speed? That would be nice.

Thanks a have a nice day
Dali

You do not write if your modem works or if you need help to make it work.
In the first case, thanks for the information.
Otherwise use the Linuxant driver for Conexant HSF modems.
Just go to http://www.linuxant.com/drivers/hsf/full/downloads-ubuntu-x86.php
Identify your need for kernel 2.6.17-10 with 386-type CPU.
Read the Installation instructions in the HSF area on the left, download, install.

hi guys,

FYI, I found

so here I go. I am sending it. Computer is laptop Acer Travelmate 3293WXMi.(AKA 3290)
