Will

11c1:0441 Communication controller: Lucent Microelectronics 56k WinModem
has a supported DSP chipset.

But your boot kernel
Linux sstm-faxsupport 2.4.27-3-386 ,  UTC 2006 i686 GNU/Linux
is not adequately version matched with the drivers in the installer,
TARGET_VERSION=2.4.27-1-386

You will have to compile your own drivers if you cannot drop back to
a 2.4.27-1-386 boot kernel. Even then it is not transparent that a
Linux sstm-faxsupport 2.4.27-1-386 will be adequately matched with the
pre-compiled
TARGET_VERSION=2.4.27-1-386
drivers

But you would really be best off upgrading your whole System to a
Linux with a 2.6.n kernel, for which improved hardware support. The
current DSP support is through
