Tux_2,

Motorola does not probide drivers for 2.6 kernels with
some exceptions, Mdk 2.6.3, and the case with
2.6.9-1.667 Fedora Core 3 kernel.  
A driver is NOT available for this kernel
2.6.17-10-generic.  You will to search for a better
supported modem, look for alternatives in /Modem/
folder.
