scanModem script doesn't work

Hello,

I have downloaded and unzipped the scanModem tool.
As root I try to execute the scanModem script but I get the following 
output:

From http://linmodems.technion.ac.il , get a recent update of scanModem,
if this copy was not there obtained. There are weekly updates.

./scanModem: line 5094: syntax error: unexpected end of file

I am runnig on Slackware 11.
