Hi Jacques,

Marvin Stodolsky helped me to solve the problem.

The scripts on slmodem directory did not work, they gave several errors. Marvis suggested to install the script from: http://packages.ubuntu.com/edgy/misc/sl-modem-daemon

That script does not give any error, but it did not work. I had to do a small change to it. I added:
modprobe -r slamr
just before the line in which the module is automatically reloaded if it is not present in memory.

Now the problem is solved: the modem works fine and it is automatically available at every boot.

Thank you for your help.

Best Regards,
Simone

The modem works fine but every time I reboot the computer I have to reinstall the driver. /dev/slamr0 is missing although module slamr.ko is loaded. I read in previous mails other users had the same problem, it is due to udev. Do you know how to fix it?
