I use Cinamon.
I have desactivated F12 but no more result.
Under Windows F12 and shift F12 is affected to the numbering of text line.

You don't mention which desktop environment you are using, but in
Cinnamon you can go to System Settings > Keyboard > Shortcuts and try to
find the F12 binding. No idea, if you can unbind it completely.
