Windows Defender is disabled even at Group Policy level and no other antivirus is installed (I guided the process in a call).

If eicar test fails, then some protection is intercepting it. No other option. Of course, the check could be removed from configure, but then it will inevitably fail at some unit test, which checks vulnerabilities.

Just as a test, I asked him to try manually creating and catting the file and there was no problem:

$ echo 'X5O!P%@AP@<:@4\PZX54(P^)7CC)7}$EICAR-STANDARD-ANTIVIRUS-TEST-FILE!$H+H*' > $LODE_HOME/dev/core/eicar

$ cat $LODE_HOME/dev/core/eicar
X5O!P%@AP@<:@4\PZX54(P^)7CC)7}$EICAR-STANDARD-ANTIVIRUS-TEST-FILE!$H+H*

I hope I got it right.
